For example, we have achieved zero CAUTI by following guidelines on appropriate indications for catheter use and removing catheters as soon as they are no longer needed,” explains Marti Carter, RN, Director of Quality and Infection Prevention at Sonora Regional Medical Center. “In addition, at the end of 2014 we invested in specialized lifting and transferring equipment to help prevent workplace injuries when assisting patients out of bed, to the commode, or other patient mobilization.
