Avery, CA…Avery Christmas Tree Lighting takes place every year on the day after Thanksgiving. Last Friday, at 5:30 pm the Avery Community gathered for refreshments, caroling, cookies and coffee/hot chocolate. Santa Claus was there and was available for pictures with the kids. The Tree lighting ceremony started at 6:00 pm with Santa even lending a hand in the lighting of the tree.
One of the special things about living in small communities is seeing the traditions that are renewed every year and are passed down from one generation to another. In our little area of the world it is just friends and neighbors that carry these traditions through the years. No parks & rec department or big corperate sponsors just friends and family relishing the start of the Christmas season.
In an effort to help others in the community they accepted donations of non-perishable food items to be taken to the Calaveras Food Bank.
