Black Oak Casino Resort ‘Adopts’ Families In Need This Holiday Season

Tuolumne, CA… In partnership with Amador-Tuolumne County Action Agency (ATCAA), Black Oak Casino Resort adopted 42 families this holiday season as part of the Adopt A Family program. Through the program, families in need of assistance are paired with sponsors offering winter essentials, daily necessities and holiday gifts.

“Black Oak Casino Resort works to demonstrate our commitment to the community throughout the year, but during the holidays those efforts take on an even more significant meaning,” said Aaron Moss, general manager of Black Oak Casino Resort. “The Adopt A Family program allows us to directly impact families living in the community in the most positive of ways.”

This marks the 12th year Black Oak Casino Resort has participated in the Adopt A Family program. At the time the resort requested to assist, ATCAA had 119 families in need with more than 300 children. Of those 42 families and 109 children were helped by Black Oak Casino Resort. Families benefiting from the program are evaluated and approved through ATCAA screening process.

Donations distributed by the property came from team members, Christmas parties hosted by The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians and the Renegade Classic Toy Run hosted by Black Oak Casino and Resort. Moreover, every department and entity within Black Oak Casino Resort participated in the charitable efforts in one form or another. Involvement included monetary and gift donations, gift-wrapping, delivery and more.

“It only takes one selfless act to make a difference,” said Lisa Harner, table games shift manager for Black Oak Casino Resort. “Being able to be a part of an effort which benefits so many people every year is truly an extraordinary experience.”

Among gifts given to the families were winter clothes such as coats and boots, a variety of toys, bikes and furniture. This year three cribs and a dresser were donated. Black Oak Casino Resort volunteers delivered all donations to ATCAA on Dec. 16. In addition to the help offered to ATCAA, team members of the resort also donated presents to 12 children to the Salvation Army on Dec. 22 as part of the Angel Tree program.
