Hwy 88 Collision Takes The Lives Of 76 Year Old Pine Grove Man & His Dog.

Pine Grove, CA…A 38 year old Pine Grove woman was allegedly traveling westbound on SR-88 at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly, while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. A 76 year old Pine Grove man (Update…The Amador Sheriff’s Dept has released that his name is Norman Albert Vogt) and his dog were traveling at or below the speed limit eastbound in a 1992 Ford pickup, followed by a Pioneer man in a Ford van. Due to her level of intoxication and unsafe speed for the conditions, lost control of her vehicle as she entered a right turn in the roadway. She crossed over the centerline and collided head on into the Ford pickup causing severe impact damage.

The pickup started to rollover and the sudden deceleration of the pickup caused the following Ford van to collide with the top portion and side of the pickup. After the collision her 2001 Mercury came to rest on the right shoulder of the eastbound lane on its wheels facing east. The Ford van came to rest on top of the pickup.

The intoxicated driver sustained major injuries and was taken to Sutter Roseville. The driver of the Ford pickup a 76 year old Pine Grove man and his dog sustained fatal injuries and perished at the scene.

The highway was closed for approximately 2 hours with Caltrans assisting in diverting traffic to alternate routes.

The Pine Grove woman was arrested and will be charged in the collision causing the death of the Pine Grove man. His name has not been released yet pending notification of his family.

    People please don’t drink and drive. Not even one drink! If your going to drink know a head of time you are not going anywhere tell the next day. If you out drinking take cab there and back! A good time isn’t good if you kill someone and you end up in prison and never being able to forgive yourself.
