Valley Springs Assault With Deadly Weapon

Valley Springs, CA…On 02/27/17 at approx. 4:30 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to Sequoia Rose Mobile Home Park for a physical altercation. Sheriff Deputies learned that Jacob King and Robert Saling allegedly went to Valley Springs MHP to repossess a vehicle that they sold to Jaycob Babcock-Coburn and his girlfriend. Jacob King and Robert Saling were armed with a baseball bat and a metal pipe at the time. Jacob King entered Coburn’s trailer and allegedly threatened his girlfriend, who was caring for two small children, by raising the bat. Jacob King and Robert Saling took the keys from inside the trailer and proceeded to take the car back without permission.

Upon learning what had occurred, Jaycob Babcock-Coburn and a 16-year-old friend armed themselves with a bat and wooden stick. They confronted Robert Saling at his trailer located at Sequoia Rose MHP. Robert Saling allegedly threatened to arm himself with a firearm, so Coburn and the juvenile suspect walked away. Coburn and the juvenile suspect returned and met Robert Saling in the street where a fight took place. Robert Saling was knocked to the ground, where he was allegedly kicked and struck with a bat by the juvenile suspect. Saling was treated on scene by medical staff and refused any further medical treatment.

Jacob King was placed under arrest for 182PC, 212.5PC, 273(a) PC; Bail $120,000. Robert Saling for 182PC and 212.5PC: Bail $50,000. Jaycob Babcock-Coburn was arrested for 182PC and 245PC; $50,000. The juvenile suspect was arrested and transported to juvenile probation for 182PC and 245PC.
