K.W. Emerson To Begin Construction Of Retaining Walls On Hwy 4 Near Big Trees

Arnold, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin a project that will install retaining walls along State Route 4 (SR-4) near Calaveras Big Trees State Park. The project will install retaining walls for sediment control, improve culverts and drainage, and re-construct roadside shoulders along a half-mile segment of SR-4, just west of the entrance to Big Trees State Park. Work is scheduled to begin during the week of April 16, 2017 and be completed in Fall 2017. One-way traffic control will be used and motorists should expect 10-20 minute delays. Work is scheduled to be done mostly in the day. This $7.3 million project has been awarded to K.W. Emerson, Inc. from San Andreas.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
