Melissa Esparza Crowned 2017 Calaveras Saddle Queen

Angels Camp, CA…On opening day of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee eight equestrians competed for the 2017 Saddle Queen title. After a very tough competition Melissa Esparza was chosen as Saddle Queen for 2017. She was followed by 1st princess Morgan Danfelt and 2nd princess Jamie Brimmer.

During the Saddle Queen competition, contestants are evaluated on personality, appearance, and horsemanship. This competition is open to young women ages 14-19. Participants have the chance to win the $1000 Saddle Queen scholarship, and $600 and $400, 1st and 2nd Princess scholarships. Special Awards for this competition include Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic.

The 2017 Saddle Queen and her court will serve Calaveras County for the following year.

The 2017 Saddle Queen contestants were as follows: Emily Bolton, Jamie Brimmer, Rebecca Butler, Jennifer Cox, Morgan Danfelt, Melissa Esparza, Kari Farwell, and Kaitlyn Mcintosh.
