San Andreas, CA….The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors just voted 5-0 to move funds around enough for the county to order the temporary bridge to get White Pines Park the Moose Lodge and fully operational again. This should allow for full use for the bulk of the summer season. The final resolution varries slightly from what follows…”Adopt a Resolution to Direct the County Administrative Officer to identify funds for reimbursement to Public Works Roads and Bridges for the purchase and installation of a temporary bridge at Main Street (Blagen Road) crossing Big Trees Creek in White Pines. 2. Direct the Public Works Director to purchase a pre-engineered, manufactured bridge and execute contracts necessary to install, construct temporary approach roadways and place appropriate facilities for the installation of a temporary bridge. 3. Direct staff to process the purchase and installation of the temporary bridge to maximize the potential for Federal and State reimbursement. 4. Include temporary bridge in County’s Capital Asset inventory.”
Many community members spoke out in favor of the county moving forward on this. It was also stipulated in the final resolution that the county should try to seek some assistance from other stakeholders that will benefit directly from the temporary bridge.
The resolution will also be crafted in a manner to maximize the chances that the county will be able to get reimbursement from FEMA or other emergency funding sources.
The bridge will be ordered within the next few days and may be sourced from a manufacture that has a plant based in Oakland, CA
