The Iconics Kick Off First Friday Series On Second Friday In June

Murphys, CA…The Iconics, a seven-member band from San Jose that plays tunes from the 50’s and 60’s with a nod to the roots of Rock & Roll, will kick off this year’s season of First Fridays in the Park concerts to be held in the Murphys Park. The sponsoring Murphys Community Club is actually staging the June event on the second Friday of the month, June 9, to avoid a conflict with the graduation ceremony at Bret Harte High School.

“We are a cover band specializing in the music of such greats as Elvis, Dion, Beatles, Beach Boys, Dusty Springfield, and more,” states band leader Jim Barnes. “It’s still the best stuff going, and great for dancing and singing along.”

From June to September, First Friday in the Park will feature performances by a variety of musical groups playing in the familiar gazebo starting at 5:30 p.m. Starting at 4 p.m., a special dinner will be available for purchase at $10.00 per person and a featured local wine will be on sale along with other beverages. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a small town America gathering in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park.

The caterer for the June concert will be The Art of Entertainment. The menu will consist of grilled Italian chicken, pasta salad, and a watermelon slice.
