Marijuana Eradication in Burson Leads To Arrest

Burson, CA) On 06/02/2017 at approximately 9:45 AM Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on a property located in the 3800 block of Dickenson Court in Burson. In late May, Deputies identified the property as a marijuana growing operation. During the investigation it was discovered that the location was an unregistered and illegal marijuana grow.

When investigators arrived at the property an outdoor marijuana grow was located. Deputies also located evidence of cock fighting, and with the assistance of Calaveras County Animal Services seized five Roosters. Several of the Roosters showed injuries consistent with have fought in the past.

During a search of the property Deputies located what is believed to be a bottle of Carbofuran, an illegal and extremely dangerous pesticide.

Deputies seized 920 marijuana plants and 11 pounds of processed marijuana.

While at the location Deputies contacted Jose Moran (63) who was subsequently arrested on the following charges and booked into the Calaveras County Jail: 11358(C) H&S: cultivation of more than 6 marijuana plants; 11359(b) H&S: Possession of marijuana for sales; 597b(b) PC: cock fighting; 597j PC: possession of a game cock for fighting; 12995 Food and Ag Code: possession of unregistered pesticide.
