Inmate Walks Away from Vallecito Conservation Camp in Calaveras County

Vallecito, CA…California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are looking for a minimum-security inmate who walked away from the Vallecito Conservation Camp, located near the community of Angels Camp in Calaveras County, last night. Inmate Taurus Hendricks, 22, was last seen at approximately 5:10 am while being interviewed by camp staff. Once the inmate was believed to be missing an emergency count was conducted.

After he was confirmed missing, camp staff searched the inmate dormitory area, surrounding buildings and the camp perimeter. All local law-enforcement agencies and the California Highway Patrol have been notified and are assisting in the search for Hendricks. Apprehension efforts are continuing.

Inmate Hendricks is described as a black male, 5’7”, 160 pounds, with black hair in short braids, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing prison blues with a grey sweatshirt and white tennis shoes. He was committed to CDCR on August 15, 2014, from Sacramento County, to serve a four-year sentence for First-Degree Burglary. He was scheduled to parole in August 2015.
