Mountain Ranch, CA…Glenn Hodson Devoted family man. Glenn Hodson died Jan. 20, 2018 in Sacramento, CA. after years of heart problems. He was 78 years old. He was born June 10, 1939 in Fresno, CA. to Marjorie and Glen Hodson. Glenn served in the U.S. Navy as a Radarman on the U.S.S. Oriskany from 1957 to 1961. He then served 2 more years in the Navy Reserves from 1961 to 1963. When Glenn got out of the service he moved to Sacramento where he met his wife, Cecilia (Patty) Delaney. He was a truck driver there for many years before moving to Mountain Ranch.
In 1976 they moved to Calaveras County, and he went to work for Martin E. Fischer Logging running a rubber-tired skidder. He worked in the woods for 13 years. Glenn knew how to do just about anything and taught himself anything he didn’t know. He enjoyed and was very good at welding and
fabricating things. Starting from scratch, Glenn practically single-handedly built a log home from
the ground up for his family on their property. They lived in a tee pee for 3 years on their land in Mountain Ranch while building their home.
He helped develop and maintain the roads within the Hanson Ranch subdivision with his neighbors as comrades. He bravely saved several homes from the Mason fire, by putting in fire breaks with his TD6. He loved to build and ride motorcycles. His favorite was a 10-foot-long candy-apple red show bike that he swears was what snagged his wife. The reality was that his good looks were what first caught her eye. They have been married 43 years. He loved playing guitar and singing, and played music with a group of musician friends for a while at the American Legion Post 376 in Glencoe, CA. He was a member of the American Legions for 22 years.
Glenn was a kindhearted, happy, eventempered, funny, intelligent, genuine guy who loved family above all else. He smiled and laughed a lot. He was the best dad in the whole world. He is survived by his wife Cecilia Hodson, daughters Sarah Hodson, and Juanita Angel French and sons Joseph Hodson, Glenn Hodson, & Shannon Smart. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Rock Hodson, and his lifelong best friend John Cribbs. He was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
Friends of Glenn and family are welcome to the come to the memorial service which will be held
at San Andreas Memorial Chapel on Saturday Feb. 3, 2018 at 1:00PM. Directly following the
service we’ll reconvene at Mountain Ranch Town Hall, for a pot luck gathering. Interment will be
at Sunset View Cemetery in Martel, CA and is private.
