Ione, CA…Early this morning a 22 year old Sonora man was driving his Mazda on SR-88 eastbound at a stated speed of 80mph.  Due to his intoxication he allowed the Mazda to veer so the south from the roadway and onto the dirt shoulder. In addition to his failure to maintain his vehicle within the right lane, the Mazda continued into and collided with a grove of small oak trees. After the impact he was extricated of his vehicle by Good Samaritans.

He was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and was also taken to Kaiser South for medical treatment.
