San Andreas, CA…Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) awarded Career and Technical Training scholarships to a total of six high school students during recent award night events. Three Calaveras High School students, two Bret Harte High students and one student from Mountain Oaks will each receive $1,500.

Bryce Dorflinger, San Andreas, Alexandro Hernandez, Mokelumne Hill and Nancy Lamas, Valley Springs, were the Calaveras High School students selected. According to the scholarship applications, all three students will be pursuing certificates or training in the medical field. Across the board, all three seniors participated in the ROP training at Mark Twain Medical Center and could not say enough about how that opportunity and experience benefited them and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

From Bret Harte High School, CCF selected Linly Baker, Murphys and Levi Rollings, Copperopolis to receive C&TT scholarships. Both of these students, coincidentally, will be pursuing certificates in the Fire Science field and attending Columbia College.

Mountain Oaks School senior Tabitha Hamilton, Copperopolis, will be attending Modesto Junior College as she pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. Tabitha also plans to get a certificate in veterinary medicine. From her application, she states: “I will be working very hard in the next few years to attend and graduate from the police academy with my goal of ultimately becoming a K-9 police officer.”

Barbara Boyd White, CCF Scholarship Chair says, “CCF is fortunate to receive many generous donations from individuals and business that benefit the C&TT fund. Those donations allow CCF to pass on sizable scholarships to those students pursuing a vocational trade. Congratulations to all.“

CCF administers the funds that make these C&TT scholarships possible. Since the C&TT fund’s inception in 2011, over $37,000 has been awarded. Business partners who earmark their generous donations to benefit the C&TT fund are Pacific Gas & Electric, Sierra Pacific Industries and Save Mart Supermarkets along with numerous individuals and other local businesses.
