Charlie Anderson has been working with wood for over 40 years, and has focused intensely on Live Edge furniture-making in the last few years. Ana Anderson is a creative artist who specializes in hand-crafted wood signs and acrylic paintings. Avery Anderson will manage the day-to-day operation of the store.

Anderson Live Edge furniture is custom-made, hand-crafted, and environmentally responsible. Most of the lumber is cut from trees that came down in storms or were cleared from lots or roadways. The wood is salvaged or recycled, rather than ending up as firewood or in landfill.

This source of lumber also allows the Andersons to work beyond the standard sizes, shapes and types of wood available at lumber dealers; they even have some exotic woods. They slab the wood leaving the natural edge (thus the name Live Edge) so that the furniture retains the natural beauty of the living tree. “The wood determines the shape of the piece of furniture,” said Charlie. “We can build a project where all the solid wood is so perfectly matched for grain and color that it appears to have come from the same log—because it did.”

Anderson Live Edge lumber is dried in a solar kiln, using a fraction of the energy required by conventional methods, and their solar array produces electricity beyond the energy used by the saw mill and shop.

In addition to the Andersons’ Live Edge furniture, other local artists are invited to share the gallery space as well. Local watercolor artist Sandra Maurer is currently showing a number of pieces. Sandra paints exclusively in watercolor and strives to capture the spirit and essence of her subjects through the play of light and shadow. She has studied life science extensively and enjoys painting and capturing the beauty of both plants and animals in their natural setting.
