Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Eradicates More Marijuana Grows

San Andreas, CA…On October 17, 2018, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant onto a residence and property located in the 600 block of Ealey Road in Glencoe. Investigators seized and destroyed 48 pounds of processed marijuana, including marijuana which had been processed into various forms of edible items. Additionally, 455 marijuana plants were removed from a grow site on which an attempt had been made to disguise as a corn and vegetable garden.

It is suspected that persons fled into the surrounding wooded area prior to the arrival of investigators, however, evidence was collected at the scene and the investigation is continuing.

Due to the absence of persons remaining at the site, 9 puppies were collected by Calaveras County Animal Services for sheltering.

This search warrant followed a previous warrant which had been served in July of 2018 at the same location . During the July incident, 736 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed as well as 100 pounds of processed marijuana and 198 pounds of marijuana edibles. A high powered rifle was also taken as evidence during the July warrant.

On October 18, 2018, the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant in the 16,000 block of Highway 26 in Glencoe. 387 Marijuana plants in various states of maturity and size were removed and destroyed along with 16 pounds of processed marijuana. 2 firearms were also seized pursuant to the search warrant.

Hieu Nguyen, age 40 of San Jose, and Van Le, age 61 of San Jose were arrested at the scene on charges of marijuana cultivation and maintaining any place for the purpose of unlawfully selling, giving away, or using any controlled substance.
