Altaville, CA…Carol Lee Hinman was born January 12, 1939 in Visalia, California and passed away at her home on April 10, 2019. She earned a B.S. from University of the Pacific where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Following graduation, she was employed by Lodi High School as a home economics and mathematics teacher. Shortly thereafter, she married Gary L. Hinman and they eventually purchased and operated the Altaville Drug Store together for more than 30 years. She had also been a 4-H leader at the county level, as well as a member of Eastern Star.

She enjoyed cooking delicious meals, keeping a beautiful home, relaxing with her black Labrador retriever “Paddy,” sewing and traveling with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary L. Hinman; daughter, Ana Hinman of Sacramento; son, Lee (Deanna) Hinman of Minneapolis; and her two granddaughters, Nadia and Sophia Hinman of Minneapolis.

As was her wish, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Friends of the Library of Calaveras County (FOTL-CC) PO BOX 1552, San Andreas, CA 95249.

Carol is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Hinman, and by her parents, Genevieve and Howard Raphael.
