Notice of Vacancies for Citizen Boards, Committees & Commissions

San Andreas, CA…NOTICE OF VACANCIES FOR CITIZEN BOARDS/COMMITTEES/COMMISSIONS (revised 4/25/19).
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, due to unscheduled vacancies and expiration of terms, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors encourages interested and qualified persons to apply for membership to the following County committees or commissions:

Area 12 Agency on Aging Advisory Council
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/2021 – Member 1
The functions of the Area 12 Agency on Aging (A12AA) Advisory Council are to 1) Serve as an advisory body to the A12AA Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Governing Board; 2) Act as an independent advocate for older persons by taking positions on matters pertaining to Federal, State, and local policies, programs, and any legislation affecting older persons; 3) Actively seek input from the local Commission on Aging, senior advocacy organizations, elected officials, and the general public for the purpose of advocating for, or making formal presentations on issues of concern to older persons; 4) Inform local senior advocates and organizations on specific legislation pending before local, state and federal governments; 5) Disseminate information of interest and concern to older persons; 6) Be actively involved in the development and implementation of the Area Plan; 7) Establish and conduct the process to elect the two Senior Legislators as directed by CSL; 8) Support Public Hearings on the Area Plan in their respective county; 9) As requested by the Executive Director, review all proposals between the A12AA and other service organizations prior to the signing of contracts; 10) Act to review and implement any part of the Area Plan when requested to do so by the JPA Board. The Advisory Council is comprised of members from the participating counties; however, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors has authority to assign eight (8) representatives and one (1) Provider of Service from the county. All potential applicants must attend an Advisory Council meeting prior to submitting their application to their respective County. The County will send a copy of the application to the A12AA office, the Membership/Recruitment Committee will review the application and schedule an interview with the applicant. The Committee will then send a recommendation letter to the County stating if the applicant has met all the necessary requirements and can move on with the appointment process. Members and Providers who have been appointed shall Tave a term of four (4) years, will be reviewed and may be reappointed as necessary. Members of the Advisory Council are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest – Form 700.
Meetings are held once a month in February, April, June, August, October and December. Most meetings are held in Tuolumne County.
Affecting Legislation: The Area 12 Agency on Aging Advisory Council By-laws, and the Joint Powers Agreement between the counties of Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa.
Term Limit: 4 year Terms, unlimited number of Terms.

Fish and Game Commission
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/2019 – District 5
To develop facts, make findings and forward recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on matters concerning organization, promotion and supervision of community and county-wide fish and wildlife programs and activities within the county. To advise on the propagation, preservation and conservation of fish and wildlife in the county.
Members are required to annually file Statement of Economic Interest – Form 700.
Meetings: Meets at 5:30 PM on the fourth Wednesday of the month (January through October) in the Board Chambers at Government Center in San Andreas.

Planning Commission
One vacancy for a term expiring 12/31/2020 – District 1 Representative
To hold public hearings, make decisions and recommendations on land use matters, including the General Plan, zone changes, subdivisions, divisions of land, use permits, reclamation plans and similar items. Serves as the Administrative hearing Board for the Code Compliance Unit (i.e. zoning violations, illegal camping, junk, building without permits, etc.). Members will be required to attend a County new extra-hire orientation and payroll enrollment meeting. They are also required to file a Statement of Economic Interest – Form 700 upon appointment, annually and when leaving office. The Commission shall hold regular meetings, on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at Government Center. Additional meetings are called as necessary.

Completed applications must be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at the above address by 4:00 PM, May 15, 2019. If no applications are received by the advertised deadline or applications are withdrawn, do not meet requirements, are invalid, etc., the County will continue to accept applications beyond the deadline until the vacancy is filled.
