Katherine Sharp is Your New 2019 Miss Calaveras! Full Video & Over 60 Photos!

Angels Camp, CA…Katherine Sharp, a 17 year old graduate from Connecting Waters Charter School. Katherine has grown up in Mountain Ranch and she loves serving as Vice President in her local 4H club and riding horses. In the fall, she plans on attending UCLA to pursue a degree in neuroscience. It was an interesting evening as the weather drove the contest inside to the Mark Twain Hall. So instead of main outdoor stage with plenty of seating for spectators & family members it became a standing room only affair. The call as made at the last minute as every chance was given to Mother Nature to change her ways.

The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is excited to announce that MacKenzie Freed will be hosting the Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant on May 16, 2019. MacKenzie is Miss California 2018. She is a Lodi native with local ties to Calaveras County.

The Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant awarded nine scholarships totaling more than $8,000. Joining Miss California on stage are Darrin Mills and MaryBeth Ospital. The programs presenting sponsor is Ironstone Vineyards and the Kautz family.

The Contestants for 2019 were

Bailey Wagner, a sixteen-year-old junior from West Point, California. Bailey attends Mountain Oaks Charter School, when she graduates she plans to attend Folsom Lake College to do General Education and then transfer to Sacramento State University to receive a Masters Degree in Fine Arts. Bailey also plans to attend cosmetology school and Cinema makeup school. Bailey has a great love for Calaveras County and her community in West Point. Her interests include, art, movies, reading, and cosplay. Bailey would like to thank her sponsors West Point Ace Hardware, and Diana Roach-Baldwin.

Ashley Wallace is a seventeen-year-old senior at Bret Harte High School. She was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and now resides in Angels Camp, California. After she graduates, Ashley plans to attend Columbia College for their Culinary Arts program and then transfer to a California State University to study Music. Her main career goal is to be a choir instructor for middle school and high school students. Emily Bolton is eighteen years old and grew up in Angels Camp. She is a freshman at Columbia College, working towards her associate’s degree in science. She will then transfer to Modesto Junior College where she will study to become a certified Veterinary Technician. Her hobbies include anything that involves animals, playing the guitar, and spending time with her friends. She would like to thank her very generous sponsors Cerrudo Services for supporting her throughout the Miss Calaveras competition.

Jillian Rose Zahniser is an eighteen-year-old senior attending Calaveras High School. The Valley Springs native enjoys water polo, swim team, the Unites States Naval Sea Cadet Corps, language study, theatre, painting, and reading. Jillian plans to attend California State University Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California and study Global Studies and Maritime Affairs. After receiving her bachelors degree Jillian plans to attend law school and become an attorney and eventually a politician.

Gabriella Malamed is a junior currently enrolled at Calaveras High School. The sixteen-year-old from Valley Springs plays sports such as volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and has taken piano lessons for five years. After high school she plans on attending Arizona State University to major in sports journalism. Gabriella would like to thank her sponsor Brew’gers, for supporting her before and during the pageant.
