Pink Shoes Kicking up Excitement for Steps to Kick Cancer Luncheon

San Andreas, CA…Pink shoes will be parading around Calaveras County prior to and at the Steps to Kick Cancer Luncheon on Oct. 24 at Mark Twain Medical Center. “Pink is the well known signature color for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October,” notes Debbie Sellick, president of the Calaveras Cancer Support Group. “So we figure it’s appropriate to have pink shoes kicking up excitement for this great event.” The luncheon is from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Reserve now; contact Nicki Stevens, MTMC Manager of Marketing & Business Development, at 754 5919.

Organizers have developed fun graphics to promote the event featuring women making pink fashion statements including pink shoes, of course as they kick up their heels to “Cheer for the Future.” Sellick notes, “They are cheering because they know taking Steps to Kick Cancer now can mean a healthier future.”

She adds, “Tina Macuha, anchor of “Good Day Sacramento” on CW 13 and a ten year breast cancer survivor, is the headliner for this luncheon. The setting is a tented pavilion set up on the hospital grounds especially for the occasion.” The Cancer Support Group is one of several community organizations assisting with the event.
Luncheon guests are encouraged to wear pink shoes to qualify for special prizes. Community organizations will create entries for a PINK SHOE ART SHOW on display at the event.

Men are especially urged to attend Steps to Kick Cancer. Most people do not realize that both men and women are at risk for breast cancer and cases in men are just as deadly unless diagnosed early.
In addition to Tina Macuha sharing her insights on Surviving, confidently, the luncheon program will include the

MTMC Care Team explaining the basic Steps to Kick Cancer Self exam, routinely; Mammogram, annually; Diagnosis, frightfully and Treatment, optimistically.

Watch for complete details on the PINK SHOE ART SHOW coming soon. Community groups are urged to participate by entering artwork and attending the event together.
