Tuolumne, CA…On December 7, 2019 just before 8:00pm, 33-year-old Douglas Wishart of Escalon was driving his 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound on Carter Street at Tuolumne Road North. At that same time, a 35-year-old female from Sonora was driving her 2012 Chevrolet SUV Southbound on Tuolumne Road North at approximately 30 miles per hour. Mr. Wishart didn’t see the Chevrolet SUV and proceeded to enter the intersection where the front of Mr. Wishart’s vehicle crashed into the left side of the Chevrolet SUV. After the crash, Mr. Wishart fled the scene in his vehicle onto Black Oak Casino’s property.
The female driver of the Chevrolet SUV suffered minor injuries and was taken to Adventist Health, Sonora for treatment. With the help of the Black Oak Casino staff, Mr. Wishart was located within the Casino and later placed under arrest for suspicion of Felony driving under the influence and Felony hit and run. He was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and booked without further incident. He was not injured in the collision.
