Sheriff’s New Rescue Vehicle To Be On Display December 23rd

San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the addition of a new rescue vehicle to their fleet. The rescue vehicle is an all-terrain vehicle that can be utilized in emergencies, including active assailant incidents, hostage situations, armed or violent suspect apprehension, and search and rescue missions. It allows Sheriff’s Deputies to enter dangerous situations to effectively bring about peaceful conclusions.

Deputies will have an increased ability to de-escalate situations that could otherwise end up in one or more fatalities. Additionally, the rescue vehicle’s ballistic resistance allows deputies to rescue victims or hostages during ongoing violent incidents, enabling faster care for the injured thus, saving more lives.

The rescue vehicle models are built on heavy-duty commercial truck platforms, which allow upkeep and repairs to be performed at the department mechanic, greatly reducing maintenance costs versus other specialized vehicles.
The Rescue Vehicle will be on display in the front parking lot at the Sheriff’s Office

December 23rd, 2019 from 11:00AM – 1:00 PM.
Funds for the rescue vehicle were obtained from the Friends of the Calaveras Sheriff Department (nonprofit) and funds within the Sheriff’s Budget.
