San Andreas, CA…On March 6, 2020, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic violence incident that occurred in 2019. The domestic violence victim reported that a Calaveras County Correctional Officer had committed domestic violence related crimes against the victim while off duty in 2019. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office took an initial crime report from the victim and immediately contacted the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office requested the District Attorney’s Office take over the investigation. This was done to avoid any conflict of interest issues.
The Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office took charge of the investigation. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was later notified by the Calaveras County District Att orney’s Office that they were bringing forth criminal charges against the correctional officer. The correctional officer was immediately placed on administrative leave and is no longer working at the Calaveras County Jail.
UPDATE:
On April 29, 2020, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received information from the District Attorney’s Office regarding a new arrest warrant for Calaveras County Correctional Officer, Ian Christensen. At about 9:00 AM, deputies assisted the District Attorney’s Investigator with serving the arrest warrant.
In order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will have no further comments on this case at this time. The investigation is being conducted and managed by the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office. All questions should be routed to the District Attorney’s Office.
