Violet is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

San Andreas, CA… Meet Violet, a lovely Tortie and white adult with a longhaired, plume-like tail. Violet was brought to the shelter by a woman who said Violet had been hanging around her father’s property and was concerned for the kitty’s safety. Violet appears to be about 9 to 10 years of age and has a calm, quiet demeanor. Always eager for gentle pets and being brushed, she is very polite about letting you know when she would appreciate some attention. Violet is not a true lap cat, though, more of what we would call a snuggle up beside you and watch a good movie together kind of girl. Violet is also an exceptionally tidy cat, keeping herself and her area clean at all times.

As with all cats available for adoption, Violet is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, she can go home with you today! (And should you be a bit on the mature side yourself, Violet’s adoption fee is only $5.)

Come visit Violet, impound no. AO52672, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Violet’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed, too. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
