Sebastian is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Sebastian, an especially handsome shorthaired white and gray tabby older kitten. Sebastian was a little over four months old when he and his siblings arrived at the shelter in mid-June. He is one of six kitties who were abandoned in a trailer at a mobile home park. Amazingly, when the kitties were discovered after a week on their own, they were healthy and appeared to be well cared for prior to their owner leaving. All have similar personalities, too – active, fun and friendly yet snuggly, gentle and calm. Sebastian enjoys being held for short periods of time but as he’s still very much a kitten, he prefers to run around and play between naptimes. Sebastian is accustomed to being with his housemates, though, and does not like to be alone. We feel he would do best if adopted with one of his buddies or into a home with another feline-friendly kitty.

As with all cats available for adoption, Sebastian is up-to-date on his routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already neutered, he can go home with you today!

Come visit Sebastian, impound no. AO52960, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Sebastian’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
