Trudy Lackey Named Interim Mind Matters Executive Director

Murphys, CA…Trudy Lackey, who has served on the Mind Matters board since 2009, has accepted an appointment to be the non-profit clinic’s Interim Executive Director replacing Wayne Brown who recently resigned because of pressing family problems. “I have long been a strong supporter of Mind Matters and its mission to help individuals and families to cope with the consequences of autism spectrum issues, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), and learning disabilities,” says Lackey. “I think with my close association and knowledge of its programs and staff I will be able to continue its development without interruption. I have a lot of admiration for Dr. Thompson, his highly skilled staff and all the people who make the clinic such a wonderful place.” Dr. Ryan Thompson is the clinic’s founder and Medical Director.

Since moving to Calaveras County in 1992, Lackey has been heavily involved in the community through her employment and volunteer activities. She was at one time the Executive Director of the Calaveras Community Foundation and has been the manager of the Columbia College Calaveras Center. She was elected four times to the Vallecito Union School District Board of Trustees and served as its President. Recently, she has been a substitute teacher, in all subjects, at Sierra Ridge High School.

“We are so glad that Trudy has stepped up to help us out at this critical time in Mind Matter’s life,” states Jan Alcalde, chair of the clinic’s board of directors. “She knows the ins and outs of the clinic and has the respect of everyone involved. Her experience in the education field will be particularly helpful as we continue to work closely with our county schools.”

Lackey has agreed to serve at least to the end of the year to allow the board to do an extensive search for a permanent Executive Director. When asked if she would be interested in the permanent position, Lackey responded, “That is not my intent at this time.”
