Sacramento, CA…Assemblyman Frank Bigelow and Senator Andreas Borgeas hosted the 46th Annual Calaveras County Frog Jump competition at the Capitol’s South Lawn this afternoon. “This is one of my favorite events,” notes Assemblyman Bigelow, “We were glad to bring a little fun back to the Capitol after a couple of years off due to the pandemic. And we had a great turn out!”
Legislators and staff from both sides of the aisle made an appearance to see who could convince their frog to jump the farthest. Assemblyman Bigelow’s frog “Frogga The Hutt” jumped a whopping 4 feet 4 inches! Other notable jumps include Senator Borgeas’ office whose frog “Sir Leaps-A-Lot” jumped an incredible 12 feet and 6 inches – winning longest jump. Assemblyman Gabriel’s office claimed shortest jump with their frog, “Dana” at 2 feet and 9 inches.
Our friend Joe Michaels of KFBK won the Media Jump for the seventh time with his frog “Christopher Ribbit” who made a jump of 10 feet and six inches. Joe is dedicating this win in memory of the late Bill Proctor, “We have a lot of fun with the Capitol event, but Bill’s the real champion!” Bill won the big-time competition in Calaveras County seven times!
Assemblyman Bigelow still contends everyone is a winner at heart. “Everyone who showed up today was able to experience a small part of what makes Calaveras County and its Frog Jumping Jubilee so great.”
Be sure to check out the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee which will take place at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds starting May 19th through May 22nd.
