San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce that we have welcomed six new recruits to our law enforcement team. These individuals graduated from the San Joaquin Delta College Basic Peace Officer Academy on October 31, 2023, and will begin field training with us on November 6, 2023. The graduates are Adrian Topete, Christopher Rhodes, Joseph Denny, Michael Fountain, Scott McNurlin, and Sean Ellis.
The Delta College Basic Peace Officer Academy aims to prepare students mentally, morally, emotionally, and physically to perform the duties of a peace officer. The rigorous training and testing ensure that each graduate embodies the professional standards required, demonstrating character, knowledge of the law, problem-solving abilities, de-escalation techniques, human relations, communication skills, and physical fitness. Discipline is an essential component of the Academy program, which helps nurture the attitudes and behaviors expected of peace officers by the public they serve.
We are proud to announce that Christopher Rhodes received the Lifetime Fitness Award for his outstanding performance in physical agility testing, scoring the highest in his graduating class. At the same time, Joseph Denny was honored with the Code of Ethics Award for exemplifying the values of the law-enforcement code of ethics throughout his time at the Academy.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is confident that these new recruits will make valuable contributions in serving and protecting our community. Their induction is a testament to our continuous efforts in fostering a strong, professional, and community-oriented law enforcement agency.
We offer our warmest congratulations and ask that you welcome the graduates as they embark on their careers in law enforcement.
