Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Grants Last Wish

San Andreas, CA…Hospice of Amador and Calaveras is delighted to announce the successful fulfillment of a final wish through its Last Wish Program. Janet McAnnally, a former TWA flight attendant, had long dreamed of seeing Calaveras County from above, yearning to experience the beauty of its roads and mountains from a bird’s-eye view.
Thanks to the generosity of local pilot Rob Davids, this dream became a reality. With over 45 years of flying experience, Rob volunteered his time and expertise to provide Janet with an unforgettable aerial tour. Currently a Captain with United Airlines of a Boeing 777 and a Pilot Examiner at the Calaveras County Airport, Rob’s passion for flying shone through as he guided Janet through the skies.

The scenic flight launched from the beautiful Calaveras County Airport, showcasing breathtaking views of the region’s rolling hills and winding roads. In a heartwarming moment, Janet even had the chance to take the controls once airborne.

As the sun set, Janet, accompanied by her friend and Rob, returned to the airport, where they were treated to a stunning view of the supermoon, adding to the magic of the day. Hospice of Amador and Calaveras extends its heartfelt thanks to Rob Davids for his commitment to making Janet’s final wish come true.

Samantha Lukow, Executive Director of Hospice of Amador and Calaveras, shared, “It was an honor to fulfill Janet’s last wish. Our Last Wish Program is dedicated to bringing comfort and joy to patients in their final days. We are immensely grateful to Rob, his wife, and everyone involved in making this experience so special for Janet.”

Additionally, Melissa Justice, Director of Community Relations at Hospice, stated, “Moments like these remind us of the profound impact we can have on our patients’ lives. We are committed to ensuring that every individual can create lasting memories during their time with us.”
