Sonora, CA…Tuolumne County Farm Bureau will host a Candidates Night especially for those running for the Tuolumne Utilities District Board of Directors positions.
The event will be held on Thursday, October 13th in the Board of Supervisors Chamber on the 4th floor of the county building at 2 S. Green Street. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for an informal reception to meet the candidates followed at 7 p.m. with a forum where candidates will present themselves and answer questions from the audience. The event is open to the public.
Six candidates are vying for three seats on the TUD Board: David Axelrod, Barbara Balen, Kent Johnson, Ron Kopf, John Maciel, and Bob Rucker. The election will fill three of the five Board of Director seats at Tuolumne Utilities District.
“This is not a debate. And the Farm Bureau will not be endorsing any candidates,” Elena Linehan, Executive Director for the Farm Bureau, said.
“This is a forum where the voters can meet the candidates face to face and be able to get their questions answered,” Linehan said.
“Water issues are crucial to our county,” Linehan said. “The TUD board makes decisions about our water delivery system, treated water, and raw water for agricultural irrigation. This is an opportunity to hear from the people who will become the decision makers.”
