Search Is Ongoing For Tuolumne County Man

Stanislaus National Forest, CA…On October 2nd the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overdue fisherman.

Sixty eight year old Breck Phelps went fishing and did not return home. It is unknown if Breck ventured out Friday or Saturday or if he is equipped with any supplies. His friend became worried and drove to Donnell Vista Point where Breck likes to hike to the river and fish. The friend found Breck’s red 2007 Nissan Versa parked on the side of the road 1/4 mile west from Donnell Vista Point.
Breck’s friend called the Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue responded to the area. Ground crews searched at Donnell Vista Point and surrounding areas with the assistance of the CHP H20 Helicopter. Breck’s phone was powered off and was unable to be tracked. Tomorrow morning additional search teams from Calaveras County, Stanislaus County, and Contra Costa County will join Tuolumne County In the search. The search will be done with the assistance of a helicopter, 6 dogs, and a boat for a search of the reservoir. Additionally a Black Hawk Helicopter from the National Guard out of Sacramento is joining the search.
