Sheriff’s Department Seeking Information On Shooting In Arnold Area

Arnold, CA…On 12/8/16 at about 1:45 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Ebbett’s Pass Fire Station for a report of a victim of a gunshot wound. Detectives learned that the victim, 33 year old Robert Allen Hilton Jr., and the witness, 48 year old Lamir Anthony Amma, both out of Richmond, California claimed to be driving from Oakland to the Sacramento area. The witness stated that he was asleep in the vehicle when the victim pulled off the roadway and stepped outside the vehicle. While outside of his vehicle at an unknown location on the shoulder of the roadway the victim sustained a gunshot injury to his upper torso. The witness reported that he was awakened when heard 2-3 “tap” noises that could have been gunshots. The witness stated that he saw a grey sedan leaving the scene. The witness exited the vehicle and dragged the victim into their vehicle. They then drove about ten minutes to a gas station in Arnold for help, where they were directed to nearby Ebbett’s Pass Fire Department. The shooting victim was alert but uncooperative with the investigators when questioned. The victim and witness had no explanation as to why they were in Calaveras County.


Victim’s Vehicle Being Investigated By Sheriff’s Deputies Yesterday In Front Of EPFD Station One

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his gun shot injuries. His current medical status is described as stable but critical. Deputies attempted to locate the area where the shooting occurred with negative results. The location of the shooting is described as a 10 minute drive from Arnold where “trees are not as tall” according to the witness. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s assistance with any details surrounding this investigation.

The alleged suspect vehicle was vaguely described as an unknown make and model 1990’s grey car. The victim and witness were driving a white 2011 Dodge Challenger bearing a Georgia license plate (photo of the vehicle is attached). The Sheriff’s Office does not have a description of the alleged suspect.
