Calaveras County, CA…First 5 Calaveras has completed their Strategic Plan for 2017 – 2022 and is announcing a Solicitation of Applications for grant funding for specific services in Calaveras County. Services are to begin on July 1, 2017 and continue for up to three fiscal years, through June 30, 2020, with the intent to renew, after review, for two additional years.

Funding is targeted to provide services for children ages 0-5 years old, parents, caregivers, educators, and providers of children 0- 5 years old, and pregnant women.

The identified services are:
STRONG FAMILIES
(Healthy Social-Emotional Development, Playgroups, Home Visiting)
LEARNING & READY FOR SCHOOL
(Kindergarten Readiness, Early Literacy, Quality Improvement System Support)
HEALTHY CHILDREN
(Oral Health, Nutrition, Healthy Foods, Preschool Gardens, Physical Activities)

The total amount of funding will not exceed $294,000 in the first year, with an annual increase not to exceed 2% and is broken down to the following areas:
* Early Literacy $20,000
* Healthy Foods & Nutrition $32,000
* Healthy Social-Emotional Development $20,000
* Home Visiting $35,000
* Kindergarten Readiness Programs $10,000 each (up to 3 groups)
* Oral Health $75,000
* Physical Activity Program $20,000
* Play Groups $4,000 each (up to 3 groups)
* Preschool Nutritional Gardens Program $20,000
* Quality Improvement System Support (QIS) $10,000
* Safety & Social-Emotional Support $20,000
