Paving to Begin on Hwy 4 & 49 July 31st

Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin an improvement project that will repave over 21 combined miles of highway on State Route 4 (SR-4) and SR-49 in Calaveras County. This project will improve the road surface, efficiency of travel and safety for motorists traveling throughout Calaveras County. The two locations are as follows: Approximately 14.7 miles on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Six Mile Road, west of Vallecito, to Davis Ranch Road, just east of Douglas Flat. Approximately 6.8 miles on northbound and southbound SR-49 from the Calaveras/Tuolumne County line to just north of Sonora Street in Angels Camp.

Work is scheduled to begin July 31, 2017 and be completed in October, 2017.

Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Work is scheduled to be done mostly at night, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

This $3.6 million project has been awarded to George Reed, Inc.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
