Tuolumne, CA…A Copperopolis man took a rather large gamble last night at a local casino that didn’t pay off in his favor. Our office received a call from Black Oak Casino reporting security staff had made contact with 21-year-old Tommy High on the gaming floor after he was involved in a verbal altercation with another patron. High had multiple warrants for his arrest.
Deputies arrived and met with security officers on the third floor of the parking garage and arrested High for his warrants on charges of committing a felony while out on bail, ID theft, drug possession, conspiracy to commit a crime, violation of probation and failing to appear in court. High also had a warrant out of Modesto for failing to appear on a stolen vehicle charge. A search of his person turned up more than 10 grams of methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe.
Further investigation determined the Acura Integra that he drove to the casino had been stolen from Stockton. A registration check through DMV confirmed the license plate was issued to a Nissan and not the Acura. The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted and had reported the stolen Acura just 4 days prior.
High was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for his warrants and current charges of possession of a stolen car, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a methamphetamine smoking pipe, and displaying false license plates.
