Angels Camp, CA…Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth & Family and Calaveras Greens will once again be hosting Calaveras Earth Day Celebration. Respect you mother (Earth) respect each other. Working together to achieve this goal has always been what Earth Days is about. Music, dance, small local business, service organizations, relevant county departments, non-profits, political and social concerns, office seekers, food, crafts, children and their families all mix for a truly magical day of fun and enlightenment.
The spirit of Earth Day is to recognize that not only humans inhabit this planet. We all evolved together and are codependent. Our relationship with forests, oceans, and all the creatures there in are integrally intertwined. Being mindful of this relationship is intimately tied to the survival of all. Humans have a distinct responsibility given our predilection for careless, self-centered, short sighted, profit oriented behavior toward our environment.
Earth Day is here to serve as a reminder for the importance of mindfulness and how we must seek harmony with nature and the human community. Otherwise we risk the destruction of what we have come to understand as life on Earth. Join us on 22 April in Utica to reaffirm our commitment to our families and 7 generations hence to leave this world a better place than we found it. Bringing beauty into the world and respecting the beauty that already is, a goal we can all live with.
