Murphys, CA…Almost every evening at dinnertime we get an unsolicited call call identified as being from ATT. We have call blocking, but it doesn’t work. We have tried everything we can to stop these annoying calls to no avail.
When we received a call today I decided to stay on the line and see if I could get some information. I will not bore you with the details, but after posing a number of leading questions this is what I learned.
The person calling identified himself as Daniel Rigby (he’ll probably be fired for telling me). He was calling from Arizona. He said he was an AT&T employee and then admitted that he wasn’t. He actually works for ATT, which is not a AT&T company. It is an independent business that is employed by AT&T to sell Direct TV and other services.
When I objected to being called he said he could put us on the do not call list if we would only give him our account number and other personal information. I wouldn’t give this scam artist anything.
I tried to Google ATT to learn about the company but could get no information. It is obvious that AT&T does not want you to know about the scam it is perpetrating.
Why would a major corporation like AT&T stoop to such dishonest tactics? If it has to fool people into buying its services, it must be in dire straits.
They should be ashamed.
p.s. Don’t bother trying to contact AT&T customer service. It’s a waste of your time.
