AmeriCorps Volunteer To Help Resource Connection

San Andreas, CA 6/23/15 — The Resource Connection Early Childhood Programs will have AmeriCorps volunteer for fourth year. AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 men and women in intensive service each year at more than 15,000 locations including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Members gain valuable professional, educational, and life benefits, and the experience has a lasting impact on the members and the communities they serve.

The Resource Connection feels their mission statement – Engaging Families, Empowering Communities,
Enriching Lives; is a natural fit with the goals of AmeriCorps members. This opportunity for The
Resource Connection Early Childhood Programs is made possible by First 5 Service Corps and is funded
through Prevent Child Abuse California and First 5 Calaveras. The successful candidate will serve as a
First 5 Service Corps Program. First 5 members serve young children ages two to five and their families
to strengthen the child’s developmental skills so they can be prepared to enter school. Members provide
direct developmental skill building activities to help children develop age appropriate knowledge and
skills of early childhood. They focus on language and literacy, social-emotional, personal health, and selfhelp
skills.

The Service location will be at the Vista del Lago Head Start Full Day program in Valley Springs. There is
an eleven-month commitment and the member must complete 1,700 hours of service and training.
Members receive a monthly living allowance and at the successful completion of service term qualify for
the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to assist in continuing the member’s education.

resident, ability to clear a Criminal History Check, have at a minimum a high school diploma or
equivalency certificate.
