A Message for Young Drivers From CHP San Andreas

San Andreas, CA…A message for young drivers from CHP…”12814.6(b)(1)(A) and (B) California Vehicle Code-during the first 12 months after issuance of a provisional license the licensee may not do any of the following unless accompanied and supervised by a licensed driver who is the licensee’s parent or guardian, a licensed driver who is 25 years of age or older, or a licensed or certified driving instructor: (A) Drive between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. (B) Transport passengers who are under 20 years of age.

A young man who has had his driver license for 3 months learned a hard lesson this morning when he chose to transport his 15 year old friend to school. The young man was stopped for speeding and was given a citation for a violation of his provisional license.

There are some very strict exceptions to the law however taking your friend to school is not one of them. This law is discussed at length in our “Start Smart” class.”
