New York, NY…Trading on the NYSE has been halted due to a technical difficulty according to the exchange. Officials have stated that it is an internal technical issue and not caused by an external event.

In this day and age stocks can still be traded on other exchanges. In years past the NYSE used to control 80-85% of the stock transactions. That number has dropped steadily over the last few years.
