Murphys, CA…Jim Stewart of Murphys, aged 63, died on July 13, 2015. He was a fifth generation Calaveras County native, born in San Andreas in 1951 to Vern and Gloria Stewart. He graduated from Calaveras High School.
Jim grew up helping out in the family business, Stewart Ford and Mercury. As an adult he became a general contractor building many custom homes in the Murphys/Arnold area. He served in the U.S. Army as a personnel specialist from 1971 – 1972 in Fort Hood, Texas. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and exploring back roads on his motorcycle. He was a member of the Angels Gun Club, Native Sons of the Golden West and Northern California Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stewart; mother, Gloria Stewart; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Blain Meith; and son, A.J. Stewart. He was predeceased by his father, Vern Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice if so desired.
To honor his wishes there will be no public services.
