Caltrans Completes Pedestrian Safety Project in Jackson

Jackson, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) recently completed a project to enhance pedestrian safety, mobility and accessibility on State Route 88 and Route 49 in the town of Jackson in Amador County. The project installed and upgraded curb ramps, sidewalks, and driveways, provided accessible asphalt concrete shoulders, as well as accessible pedestrian signals and push buttons that meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards. The project limits were Route 88 from Broadway to the Route 49 junction, and Route 49 from North Fork Jackson Creek to Peek Street. Work also was conducted on the South Fork Jackson Creek Bridge, Jackson Creek Bridge and North Fork Jackson Creek Bridge. Serafix Engineering Contractors of San Ramon started construction in February 2021 and completed the estimated $3.16 million project in July 2021. Caltrans wishes to thank the traveling public for its cooperation during construction and reminds motorists to please “Be Work Zone Alert.”
