Chain Installer Permits Now Available, Mandatory Orientation of New Applicants, Oct 30th

Stockton, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is accepting applications for individuals interested in becoming chain installers on state highways in the Sierra Nevada. Permits are available for routes 4, 88, 89, 108, and 207 in Calaveras, Alpine, Amador and Tuolumne counties. A mandatory orientation class for new applicants will be held in the Caltrans Maintenance Office, located at 98 South Main Street in Angels Camp, on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. A written and performance exam will be held immediately following the orientation. Successful applicants may purchase their permits after the exam. The cost for the permit and identification bib is $200.00.

Returning District 10 Chain Installers with no prior violations can renew their permits immediately by calling (209) 736-0187.

Calaveras County requires a business license for all applicants interested in working on Highway 4. To obtain a business license in Calaveras County, contact the Calaveras County. Tax Collector’s Office, located in the Government Center in San Andreas, California, or on the web at: http://taxcollector.co.calaveras.ca.us/Business-License.
